Hikibi explores sound as an invisible force. Like wind across sand or rain becoming river, sound leaves no permanent form, yet it shapes the space it passes through. Through repeated circular forms, Hibiki suggests echoes, pulses, and the quiet power of resonance; how a voice, memory, or fleeting moment can continue to ripple outward long after it has passed. The work invites viewers to experience sound not only as something heard, but as something felt; intimate, transient, and deeply tied to memory, presence, and change. The work reflects on the power of resonance: how a voice, a memory, or a single moment can ripple outward long after it has disappeared.
The tally marks appear as scattered unimportant gestures; five, two and four, each seemingly without consequence on its own. Together, they form eleven, allowing something random and fragmented to resolve into a number with significance. Two identical figures standing side by side, separate yet inseparable. In this way, eleven becomes a quiet symbol of shared human experience, reflecting how we remain individual while finding meaning, balance and belonging through our connection to one another.
